this may be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
ALTERNATURA, the youngest tourist agency on island Vis, derived
from the Club KALEB from Komiza in 2001. The Director is Pino
Vojkovic (paragliding pilot, diver and the captain of
fishing boat "gajeta falkusa"), together with: Petra
Kvesic, who run the office and also practices paraglyding and other sports. The last partner of our small business is Boris
Zitnik, MBA from Zagreb, the owner of OMNIAconsult
and the director of IDC Hrvatska. However, it is our local
hosts that are the most important, the ones with their fire
places, boats, cuisine and skills.
We are not interested in great numbers and
tourists in the form of baggage, we want to give ourselves
to each and every one of you. This marginal Adriatic archipelago
and our exclusive destinations can not stand a mass of visitors,
and the activities we offer you - even less so! As it is hard
to avoid summer crowds in Vis and Komiza, the real solution
is for you to return sometime out of season.
We are ALTERNATURA, because
we bring you back to fundamental values, that have became
an alternative in this modern world, like: a host, a fireplace,
fire, home cooking, a donkey, a goat, a boat, fishing, flying,
sailing, horseback riding, caves, children, quiet, birds…
You will not be bored, but – fear not,
besides SPORTS, we also offer COMFORT
TOURS: boat ride around Vis, and a van ride across
the island. Sports tour begins with hiking and bicycles, and
continues with paragliding (flying in double paraglider),
sailing on fishing boat "gajeta falkusa", diving
in The Blue Cave and around the volcanic island Brusnik, horseback
riding to the Stoncica lighthouse, speleology for beginners
course in The Queen's Cave near Okjucina!
Some may ask: “What will we do about our children?”
For kids we have prepared different workshops and acknowledged
expert tutors.
We will take take you to the best fireplaces
and the most interesting hosts at Vis, Podstraje, Plisko
polje, Mala Travna, Zena Glava, Podhumlje, in Stupisce in
Komiza and in some of the most hidden villages. From the most
fishing place on the Adriatic, you will sail to Bisevo, to
Brusnik and Svetac, all the way to Palagruza and Jabuka.
And the history of Vis?
Volcanos, caves. Ionnius, Diomedes, Dionysius of Syracuse,
Issa, Plato, Teute, Julius Caesar, The Benedictines, Pope
Alexander 3rd, Venice, English on the Adriatic, Governer Robertson,
young Nelson, Cricket club, Napoleon, George 3rd, Franz Joseph,
Tito, Churchill, commandos, RAF… there’s
no other island in the Adriatic with stories like these, told
in the way of, maybe, Ionnius way or Teute tours! We will
show you fortresses, underground labyrinths, airport, a great
archaeological museum at Vis and Fisherman Collection at Komiza.
Don’t be surprised when you get a red scarf around your
neck up at Tito’s Cave
If that’s not enough, you can always
run to make some one – day trips. Our offer: Hvar, Stari
Grad, panorama flight with a sports plane, lunch at Pakleni
otoci; the desert of Blaca at Brac, rafting at Cetina.
No cheating - there are no groups comprising of more
than 15 people. Our approach is “face-to-face”,
with no room for cliché. The Barjoška bay, the
warmest spot in Croatia, is not supposed to become Club Mediterrane,
but rather Club Barjoska.
We are the link between guests and hosts. One of the key experience
of the season 2002. is the wish by Jelena and Lenko from Okljucina
(while she does the cooking, he takes visitors to the Krajicina
cave): "All we need are three groups a week, not larger
than 12 people. We wouldn't like to turn into a restaurant."
For the first time after who knows how many decades someone
in Okljucina is making money and local children are running
around. Now, isn't that REVITALISATION?
