 Here are a few words about a traditional paragliding competition in precise landing on the point in Komiza on the island of Vis - occasion of the feast of St. Nicholas day 04-07.12.2009. As every year, and so far 11 times , this year paragliding club “Kaleb” from Komiza organized competition "Paravis" for all lovers of paragliding and the island of Vis in the winter time.
This year's festivity began on Friday 4.12. with the arrival of the competitors on the island with optional socializing which included introducing the island and their hosts. We continued to socialize the next day so we went to the start position, mountain Hum 587 m. The day was sunny but there was too much north wind with height and we couldn t fly , so it prevented us to change the competition schedule. We took the replacement activities - the island Vis historic tour -sightseeing the most important points, and explored the military bases and tunnels..
After an interesting day we gathered in a local pizzeria, "Hum" and enjoyed a good film projections from different courts, enjoyed the baked delicacies and good wine, after we switched to the main square and enjoyed an excellent rock concert of the group "Ljetno kino" until the late hours.
Sunday was a spare day for flying, but wind was again to strong -15 m/s NW , so we could only waited on the start position and hoping that weather condiotions will be better.

Despite the great wish the competition was not succesful because of the bad weather conditions, even though there was twenty participants from Sinj, Zagreb, Istria, Sarajevo and Split. Most of them left on Sunday and just few of us continue to fly on Monday. Island of Vis is one of the most interesting flying destinations, paragliding club "Kaleb" intends to continue organizing such events.The following competition is going to be at the beginning of October 2010, and of course again on the st.Nicholas day .
